kollu sundal recipe – Stepwise pics follow the below printable description:
- Kollu/horsegram - ¼ cup
- Water - 1 cup
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds/kadugu - ¼ tsp
- Urad dal/ulutham parupu - ½ tsp
- Asafoetida/perungayam - a generous pinch
- Curry leaves - few
- Sambar powder - ½ tsp
- Salt - ¼ tsp
- Grated coconut - ¼ cup
- Coriander leaves - few
- Wash and soak ¼ cup kollu/horsegram overnight. Next day, drain the water and wash it again.
- In a pressure cooker, add washed kollu and a cup of water.
- Pressure cook for 8-10 whistles in high flame(knob #8). Once pressure is released naturally, use a perforated(with holes) ladle and transfer the sundal to a bowl. You can use the drained water while making rasam.
- Add a tbsp of oil(coconut or sesame oil) to a dry pan. Once hot, add ¼ tsp mustard seeds/kadugu. Once spluttered, add ½ tsp urad dal/ulutham parupu. Once very slightly browned, add a generous pinch of asafoetida/perungayam.
- Add few washed curry leaves and then the drained kollu sundal. Give a stir and keep the stove in low flame.
- Add ½ tsp sambar powder and ¼ tsp salt. Stir well for a minute so that masala and salt are blended well with sundal.
- Add ¼ cup grated coconut and just stir well to combine. Switch off the stove.
- Add finely chopped coriander leaves and give a quick stir.

kollu sundal recipe – How to make horsegram sundal ?

Tips/Tricks in making kollu sundal:
- Do not add salt while pressure cooking kollu sundal as it might not cook properly.
