This post is for babies who have completed 9 months and just starting their 10th month.
Below is my baby’s schedule for this month. This schedule is just for your reference. Please don’t try to fit your baby in this schedule. Let your baby decide his/her schedule to nap. And you choose a wise time (to feed solids) that suits you and your baby.

Please have a look at the previous food charts(click here for link) to check if you have introduced all those foods before introducing the foods mentioned in this 9 months food chart. In this month, I have added one more meal and that is the evening snack. I prefer & recommend only fruits for snacks. As I am presently living in USA, I am giving the fruits that is fresh & locally available here. You please give fresh and seasonal fruits available in your locality.
- I planned to give Goat liver & Mutton this month, but couldn’t get fresh ones and so gave next month.
- New spices – Cloves, bay leaf, dry ginger(sukku)(can add sukku after completing 7 months).

Day 2 | ![]() Whole black urad porridge cooked with pumpkin & melon seeds powders. Used my mom’s urad kali powder.This powder recipe is in my instagram post(link). I just took a tsp of powder mixed well with 1/2 cup water. Added pinch each of roasted and ground pumpkin & melon seeds powders to it and cooked in sim for 10 mins. Added ghee at the end.. | ![]() Cauliflower potato 🥔 kurma. In pressure cooker, add little water, place a bowl with wet cauliflower florets & close with a plate. Peel and cube a potato & add to the water outside the bowl & cook for 2 to 3 whistles. In coconut oil, 1/4 big onion 🧅 chopped, 1 peeled garlic clove, 1 small pinch peeled ginger. Once onions are transparent, add 1/2 chopped tomato 🍅, pinch turmeric powder. Once mushy, add 1 heaped tablespoon grated coconut & 1 coriander stalk with leaves. Stir well, add a pinch coriander powder, 10 fennel seeds/sombu & switch off. Cool down & grind to smooth paste with 4 cubes of cooked potato & lil water. In coconut oil, 1 small cinnamon stick, curry leaf, cooked cauliflower, ground paste, required water. Cook closed in medium flame for 10 mins. Day 3 | ![]() Venpongal, Radish sambar. For pongal, soaked raw rice and moongdal for 20 mins, washed and added 4 times water, 1 inch peeled ginger, asafoetida, roasted cumin & pepper powders, lil olive oil - Cooked for 4 whistles. Took out small portion for baby and then added salt & tempered with pepper, cumin seeds, curry leaves, chillies, more ginger & coriander leaves for us.. Toor dal soaked for 20 mins, washed & cooked with tomato, radish, asafoetida, roasted cumin & turmeric powders for 5 to 6 whistles.. Took a tbsp of dal and few radish pieces for baby and used the rest in our sambar. Oil+ghee, mustard, curry leaf, asafoetida, coriander stalk with leaves, cooked (mashed dal, radish with dal water) & once slightly thickened, added a tbsp of mashed pongal too. Mix well & remove the leaves before feeding. | ![]() Curd rice with potato podimas 🥔 Pressure cook potato for 2 whistles, peel skin and crumble the required amount..In coconut oil, crumbled potato, a pinch each of asafoetida, turmeric, roasted cumin & pepper powders.. Day 5 | ![]() Idiyappam soaked in coconut milk. Idiyappam flour is just like making millet flour in this post(link). Just replace Foxtail millet/Thinai with raw rice/Pacharisi. After grinding to flour, dry roast in low flame until hot to touch. Cool down and store in refrigerator. Boil water with lil oil, pour boiling water to rice flour and mix to form soft dough. Squeeze using idiyappam press over a cloth on idli plate. Once water in idlipot comes to rolling boil, place idli plates with idiyappam and steam just for 5 mins. Too much of steaming will make idiyappam rubbery. | ![]() Rice with dal soup curry. Pressure cook 1 tbsp moong dal, 1 cup water, 1 ripe tomato chopped, 1 garlic clove, 1 chopped small onion, 1/2 chopped carrot, 1/2 pinch sambar powder, pinch each of asafoetida, turmeric, pepper & roasted cumin powders for 4 to 5 whistles. Mash well. In a pan, lil sesame oil, 1 small cinnamon stick, 1/4 bay leaf, 2 curry leaves, 1 uncut coriander stalk with leaves, cooked and mashed dal. Day 6 | ![]() Idli with coconut 🥥 chutney. Dry roast pottukadalai/fried gram in sim for 5 mins. Grind with coconut & a very tiny pinch of peeled ginger. Add water and grind to thin chutney. Temper with mustard, curry leaves & asafoetida. For baby, use 1/2 tsp pottukadalai for 1 tbsp grated coconut.. | ![]() Toor dal rice with carrot 🥕 Pressure cook 30 mins soaked 1/2 cup Toor dal with 1/2 tomato 🍅, 2 chopped small onions, 1 garlic clove, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/8 tsp asafoetida, 1 cup water, 1/2 tsp sesame oil for 5 whistles. In coconut oil, mustard, curry 🍃, half green chilli without seeds, pinch asafoetida & roasted cumin powder, coriander stalk with leaves, mashed dal with lil dal cooked water. Switch off in 1/2 minute. The end parts of open-ended pieces will be so soft without any bones. Washed the fish well with turmeric powder and just steamed the fish in oil greased steaming plate in idli pot for 20 mins. You shall add 1/4 tomato(optional) once onions turn translucent. | ![]() Orange chunks 🍊 | ![]() Carrot 🥕 White rava upma - In sesame oil, mustard, curry leaves, 1/4 green chilli without seeds, small onion, 1/4 tomato without skin & seeds, 1/4 grated carrot, nearly 1 cup hot boiling water. Cook closed in medium flame for 5 mins. Open, add roasted rava, stir well & cook closed for 5 mins. Stir in between. Switch off and keep closed for 10 mins. Remove leaf & chilli. |
Day 10 | ![]() Old fashioned rolled oats porridge cooked with grated cashews. Click here for recipe.. See last point in tips section .. | ![]() Toor dal rice with coconut milk fish. Pomfret / Golden pompano / vaaval fish + first milk of coconut + peeled ginger + whole peppercorns + turmeric + coconut oil. U shall add a tail of green chilli without seeds too. I didn’t add as I already tempered dal rice with green chilli. Add all these to a bowl, close it with a lid and keep inside a steamer plate inside idli pot & steam for 20 mins. Pour the water out & take out the fish along with some coooked coconut. Carefully, Check for bones & then feed to baby.. Day 11 | ![]() Sweet potato 🍠 Peeled , chopped & pan cooked(closed) for 10 mins. Always wet your hands well while feeding sweet potato to avoid dry feed.. | ![]() Carrot khichdi 🥕(link) using homemade rice + moongdal khichdi powder(link). Day 12 | ![]() Aloo paratha with curd. Stuffing - Pressure cooked potato 🥔 for 5 whistles, peeled, mashed well without any lumps, pinch each of asafoetida, turmeric & roasted cumin powder. Mix well, make balls, stuff inside chapathi dough and try to need thin.. It’s ok if some stuffings ooze out..Cook both sides with sesame or coconut oil. Don’t cook in low flame which will harden the parathas. Toggle between Medium-high to medium.. I just took very small pieces, dipped in curd & fed. She ate well.. Leave any corner pieces without stuffing. The portions with stuffings will be so soft. | ![]() Beetroot rice. Grate a big disc of beetroot, add to a bowl with 1/3 cup water, 1/2 pinch each of turmeric and sambar powders. Close with lid and place inside a pressure cooker with little water outside the bowl and cook for 5 to 6 whistles. Open, drain the water for dinner. In coconut oil, mustard, curry leaves, cooked beets with lil cooked water. Switch off in 1 min. Add mashed rice to this with lil ghee and mix well. Place carrot discs inside a bowl, sprinkle little water, close the bowl and place inside pressure cooker with little water outside the bowl in the cooker and pressure cook for 5 to 6 whistles. Once spluttered, simmer & add curry leaf, very small pinch of dry red chilli without seeds, pinch asafoetida & roasted cumin powders, cooked stuff(mash well) with lil cooked water, uncut coriander stalk with leaves. Cook closed for 10 mins. It should still have some water left. Mash pumpkins in water & keep aside. In another pan, coconut oil, mustard, curry leaf, mashed pumpkin with water. Switch off in 1 min. Day 20 | ![]() Rolled oats porridge cooked with pumpkin seeds & melon seeds powder.. Click here for oats porridge recipe. | ![]() Fish curry / Varutharacha Meen kulambu - Sesame oil, 4 fenugreek seeds/vendhayam, 6 chopped small onions, 1 garlic clove. Once onions start to change color, add 1 small ripened tomato chopped, 1/8 tsp turmeric powder. Once tomato turns mushy, add 2 tbsp grated coconut, fry for 1 min & switch off. Add 1/4 tsp Coriander powder & 1/8 tsp cumin powder, 1 pinch each of pepper powder & homemade curry powder (kulambu podi) or just plain chilli powder. Mix well in the pan heat & let it cool down in the pan itself. Once cooled, grind it to fine paste with 1/4 cup water. In sesame oil, mustard, curry leaf, uncut coriander stalk with leaves, ground paste, 1/2 cup water. Add 1/4 more cup water if it’s too thick. Cook closed until it comes to rolling boil. Add boneless fish pieces (preferably corner pieces of open ended pieces). Cook closed in medium flame for 10 mins. Day 21 | ![]() Sprouted Ragi porridge .. Click here for recipe. | ![]() Thandu keerai parupu kootu- Pressure cooked moongdal (soaked for 20 mins & washed), tomato, garlic, small onions, asafoetida, turmeric powder, sesame oil for 3 to 4 whistles. In coconut oil, mustard, chopped greens(only leaves without stems). Fry for a min & add water. Cook open until 70% cooked. Then add cooked & mashed dal with lil cooked water, 1/2 tsp (coconut+ jeera+ dry red chillies) paste. Cook for 3 mins & switch off. I ground for family pot & just took 1/2 tsp from that paste for baby. I cooked dal for all & took 2 tbsp for baby. U can skip coconut paste & just add a pinch of sambar powder when cooking greens. | ![]() Orange chunks 🍊 | ![]() Idli with tomato chutney 🍅 Just fried onion 🧅 + tomato 🍅 and ground in mixie. Day 22 | ![]() Carrot smoothie 🥕 Chop 1 carrot & add to a bowl. Sprinkle a pinch roasted cumin powder (optional) & lil water just to wet the carrots & close with a lid. Pour lil water in pressure cooker & keep this bowl inside. Cook for 5 to 6 whistles. Take out, cool down & blend with 2 tbsp thick & fresh curd. Yumm 😋 The bowl was emptied in exactly 2 mins 😂 As many of u asked a replacement for my strawberry smoothie, hope this carrot smoothie comes handy. | ![]() Cauliflower kurma. Same as Day 2 of this month(scroll up). Extras - Added 1 clove along with cinnamon while tempering. Skipped potato in grinding. Instead, added 20 pottukadalai/ fried gram & 1 whole cashewnut in the pan along with fennel seeds. Also, increased coriander powder to 1/4 tsp & added 1/4 pinch of homemade kulambu podi/gravy powder along with it. Take radish out & Mash well. In sesame oil, chopped small onion, curry leaf, pinch each of asafoetida, roasted cumin powder, sambar powder, uncut coriander stalk with leaves, mashed dal with cooked water & cooked radish. Day 24 | ![]() Sweet potato 🍠 wedges.. Peeled the skin, chopped, added water & cooked in a closed pan for 10 mins. Drained & fed with wet hands to avoid dry feed. | ![]() Rasam rice with grilled Pomfret/ Vaaval fish. Marinate a fish with pinch each of turmeric, jeera coriander & pepper powders , lil ginger garlic paste for half an hour to one hour. Preheat oven & grill the fish for 6 to 7 mins in each side. Day 26 | ![]() 👉Aval sambar pongal - Wash 1 tbsp aval thrice and soak(keep closed) in 2 tbsp water for 15 mins. In sim, ghee, pinch each of asafoetida, roasted cumin & pepper powders, curry leaf, 1 ginger piece, 1 tbsp cooked moongdal, cooked carrot(optional) with 2 tbsp dal water(I used the dal that I cooked for our tiffin sambar with tomato, carrot, turmeric & asafoetida). Add soaked Aval and let it cook in dal water in sim. Lastly, remove ginger & curry leaf., mash with potato masher. Yumm.. 👉Coconut chutney - Dry roast pottukadalai/fried gram in sim for 5 mins. Grind with coconut & a very tiny pinch of peeled ginger. Add water and grind to thin chutney. Temper with mustard, curry leaves & asafoetida. For baby, use 1/2 tsp pottukadalai for 1 tbsp grated coconut.. | ![]() Tomato curry 🍅 , ghee mixed with potato masher mashed Matta rice. 👉Tomato curry🍅 - Cut tomato into 2 and boil in a open pan with 1 cup water for 5 mins in medium flame. Cool down, remove the tomato skin(comes out easily). Grind tomato with 2 tsp grated coconut and 1/2 of a small sambar onion/shallot. In a pan, in lil sesame oil, mustard, 2 curry leaves, tomato cooked water, ground paste, 1 uncut coriander stalk with leaves, pinch turmeric and 1/2 pinch sambar powder. Let it boil in medium flame for 10 mins. Switch off. Cook closed for 10 mins in medium flame. Remove leaf & chilli. Add lil ghee & mashed rice to it.. | ![]() Chopped strawberries 🍓 | ![]() Idli with Mint+Coriander chutney. Then grind for others with salt. Add lil water while grinding. Temper with mustard, Urad dal and curry leaves. Lastly pour the tempering with mustard & curry leaves without urad dal to baby portion. No need to do 2 tadka. U can use the same for both. |
Day 28 | ![]() Avocado 🥑 & chopped grapes 🍇 My baby doesn’t have teeth yet but she could eat chopped fruits well with her gums & tongue. As u hav seen in my food charts, I have introduced many textures to her gradually which has led her to eat this.. It is not required to give only purées till teething begins.. Just training matters !! | ![]() Curd rice with potato roast. Pressure cooked 🥔 for 3 to 4 whistles. Peeled, chopped. In coconut oil, mustard, 1 crushed garlic with skin, potato, pinch each of asafoetida, turmeric, roasted cumin & pepper powders. Roast in sim until masalas blend well. Don’t make it crispy. Remove baby portion, add more pepper powder & salt & roast more for others.. Baby loves this combo. I will mash potato with curd rice and feed with hand. | ![]() Orange chunks 🍊 | ![]() Dosa with tomato chutney 🍅 Just sauté equal amounts of onion and tomato & grind. No water & no tempering. Ground with fried dry red chillies & rock salt for others. |
Day 29 | ![]() Black urad dal porridge cooked with sesame seeds powder. Used my mom’s urad kali powder.This powder recipe is in my instagram post(link). I just took a tsp of powder mixed well with 1/2 cup water. Added pinch of roasted and ground sesame seeds powder to it and cooked in sim for 10 mins. Added ghee at the end.. | ![]() Pineapple 🍍 paruppu rasam - Cook half tomato in 1/2 cup water for 5 mins. Cool down remove skin and grind tomato to purée. Chop half pineapple slice and grind to fine purée along with a little ginger. U can use some tomato cooked water to grind smooth. U can strain using filter if it has any grainy particles. Mine was too smooth as I trimmed thorny edges before grinding. Add these both purées to remaining tomato cooked water. Add 1 tbsp cooked tar dal with 1 tbsp dal water. Add 1 uncut coriander stalk with leaves, pinch each of turmeric, asafoetida, cumin & pepper powders. Mix well. In ghee, mustard, curry leaf, mixed rasam. Switch off when frothy. Day 30 | ![]() Lotus seeds cerelac/ porridge mixed with fork mashed banana. Click here for recipe. | ![]() Rice, ghee, Radish sambar. Pressure cook toor dal(soaked for 20 mins & washed), tomato, turmeric, garlic, asafoetida, radish for 5 whistles. Take radish out & Mash well. In sesame oil, chopped small onion, curry leaf, pinch each of asafoetida, roasted cumin powder, sambar powder, uncut coriander stalk with leaves, mashed dal with cooked water & cooked radish. Cook for 3 mins or until desired consistency. | ![]() Peeled & chopped grapes 🍇 | ![]() Matta rice porridge. Just added water & a pinch of roasted jeera powder to afternoon’s leftover Matta rice and cooked again for 5 mins until thickened.. Mashed well with potato masher. |
