Sukku kashayam/Dry ginger tonic is the best homemade medicine for cold and cough. Each ingredient of this chukku kashayam has a vital role in curing the symptoms of cold and cough.

Sukku kashayam recipe – Stepwise pics follow the below printable description:
- Dry ginger/Sukku - ¼ tsp
- Peppercorns/Milagu - ¼ tsp
- Cumin seeds/Jeera - ¼ tsp
- Clove/krambu - 1
- Cardamom/Aelakkai - 1
- Palm candy powdered/Panangalkandu podi - 1 tbsp
- Water - 1 cup
- Add a cup of water to a pan. To that, add ¼ tsp sukku/dry ginger powder and ¼ tsp whole pepper.
- Add ¼ tsp cumin seeds/jeera, a clove and a crushed cardamom.
- Add a tbsp of powdered palm candy/panangalkandu and let it boil in medium flame for 10 mins or until halved.
- Filter through a strainer and discard the filtered solid bits. Sukku kashayam/Dry ginger tonic is ready.. Serve hot.. Inhale the steam and drink warm..
If using pepper powder, use ⅛ tsp.
If using cardamom powder, use ⅛ tsp
If using whole palm candy crystals, use 1 tbsp heaped.
Preparation – How to make sukku kashayam?

Tips/Tricks in making sukku kashayam:
- If using whole dry ginger, take 1 inch piece and slightly beat it with pestle or hammer and remove the skin with a serrated knife, before using.
- If using pepper powder, use 1/8 tsp.
- If using cardamom powder, use 1/8 tsp
- If using whole palm candy crystals, use 1 tbsp heaped.
