Ice apple / nungu / palmyra fruit is the best chemical-free home remedy for verkuru / prickly heat / summer rashes / heat rashes.
Prickly heat summer rashes are very common in babies and kids as their sweat glands are just developing. I always opt for harmless home remedies for my kid and one of the best home remedy for prickly heat is nungu bath followed by neem bath.
On the first day, you will witness reduction in itching. Second day, redness will disappear and the rashes start to dry with black healing spots over each rash. Third day, number of rashes will be reduced. Fourth or fifth day as per the severity, the rashes will vanish !! This nungu treatment had always worked for my baby from 7th month and even today(5.5 years of age).
Pls seek medical advice, if the rashes are so intense.
Additional tips:
If your kid has developed summer rashes,
- Do not let him/her play in the sun, until cured.
- If possible, dress your baby/kid to stay topless for proper aeration.
- Keep hydrated.. Offer plenty of water, fresh juices, seasonal fruits like melons, tender palmyra fruit/nungu. Click here to see how to make nungu puree for babies.
- Give bath(nungu and neem bath) twice a day and preferably hair bath to stay cool. Do not prefer hot water. Normal cool water should be more soothing.
