Carrot puree is one of the best first foods for babies. Baby foods are very easy to prepare at home. Homemade, healthy and fresh baby foods always top any other preserved foods.
Start with carrot water(click here) and then move to carrot puree after a week or two. See Tips(below) for more details.
- Small carrot - 1
- Water - ½ + ¼ cup
- Ghee - Few drops
- Take a carrot and wash well. Cut head and tail part and peel off the skin.
- Chop into pieces. In a pan, add half a cup of water and the cut carrot pieces.
- Cook covered in medium high flame for 7+ mins or until carrot is cooked soft. Switch off the stove. Cool down the carrot and transfer it to mixie jar along with cooked water(if any).
- Grind it for 2 pulses and add more water if required(I added ¼ cup water). Grind to desired consistency(I made it smooth).
- Transfer to feeding bowl, add few drops of melted ghee and mix well. Feed it immediately..You shall top with breast-milk or formula..
2.Salt is not recommended for babies below 1 year.

Tips/Tricks in preparing carrot puree for babies
- Give dilute carrot water(click here) when you start introducing carrot to baby. After 1 week, make it thick by grinding the cooked carrot along with water in mixie and then straining .. Then after 1 week, this carrot puree(without straining) can be given.
- Salt is not recommended for babies below 1 year.
