Ghee enhances eyesight, immunity, memory power, strong muscles, bones and teeth. It prevents and treats constipation. Ghee is specially recommended for dads-to-be, moms-to-be, pregnant women, babies and kids.
As milk solids are removed from butter, ghee can be consumed by lactose-intolerant(One who is allergic to milk and milk products) persons too.
Before mixing ghee to food, do melt it and add for proper digestion. Moderate consumption of ghee does more good and keeps us healthy!
Homemade Ghee Recipe – Ingredients
Homemade Butter – 1/2 Cup
Drumstick Leaves – Few
Preparation
1.Take 3 strands of drumstick leaves, wash it in water and dry it.2.Pat dry using tissue paper so that it has no moisture in it. Add butter to a pan and start heating in medium flame.
3.Butter melts and starts frothing. Reduce the flame if its starts sparkling out. Slowly, the foam melts down and sound reduces. When deep yellow disappears, then its done.
4.Just add the drumstick leaves and switch off the stove. Leave it untouched for half an hour. The residue setles down.
5.Filter out the impurities and leaves using a sieve.
Store it in a clean air-tight container. Stays good at room temperature.
Tips/Tricks
- Refrigeration is not required. Shelf life is 3-4 months in room temperature.
- Drumstick leaves are optional. But it gives a nice flavor to ghee.
- Always maintain medium or low flame. Else, it will be burnt and you will end up in brown ghee rather than yellow(Once cooled down).
