Its raining ! Its pouring ! The kiddo is sneezing !! The climate is so wetty wet triggering runny nose. Cough devil doesn’t allow the kid to sleep a wink ?! Here is a suggestion…

Just give this Oregano tonic half an hour before baby goes to bed and do not give water or any other food after this and then witness the magic! This worked well for my kid.. She sleeps peacefully without cough in the night. Hope this will work for your little one too.. Do try and if it works, I will be more happy than you 😉

Give this for  2+ years babies. If your baby is under 2 years, you drink this tonic in the evening and feed your baby in the night so that it is transferred to the baby via your breast milk.

Sambaravalli kashaayam Recipe – Ingredients

Preparation Time : 2 mins | Cooking Time : 8 mins
Makes : 1 tbsp | Suits: 2+ Years babies and whole family

Oregano/Karpuravalli leaf – 1
Water – 1/2 cup
Palm Sugar/Panangalkandu – 1/2 tsp


1.Wash the leaf well. Cut/tear it into pieces and add to half a cup of water.2.Let it boil for 5 minutes. Then add panangalkandu powder or crystals and let it boil for 2-3 mins.3.Once the water is halved, switch off the flame and filter the tonic. Squeeze out the leaves to extract all drops.
Serve warm…


  • I usually get panangalkandu as such, powder in mixie and store in air-tight container in fridge. This way, the palm sugar stays good for longer time.
  • Add more palm sugar, if you want still more sweeter.
  • Once this tonic is prepared, consume within an hour.
