Karuvaadu poriyal new-1“Give me a piece of dry fish and I will finish a pot full of rice” – is a famous saying in Tamil. To me, just give the onions fried along with karuvaadu, and I could finish a pot of rice 😉

For dry fish lovers, it’s strong smell is a pleasant flavour. For dry fish haters, it is a pungent odour! I belong to the former group!!

Dry fish boosts breast milk. When accompanied with Millet porridges, it is a complete meal for feeding moms. Click here for karuvaadu kuzhambu(dry fish gravy) recipe. Persons with hypertension(High BP) please excuse as dry fish has more salt in it.

I have used thirikkai(Sting ray fish) for this recipe. Actually, my mom prepared this, when she visited us in kovai with varieties of dry fish from Rameshwaram.. I just clicked and ate fingers-licked 🙂Karuvaadu poriyal new-2
